Cerba has conducted specialised clinical pathology activities in Africa for over 30 years. This work has enabled our group to accelerate its positioning on the African continent, where public health issues are a major challenge.
To support the development of a laboratory network, Cerba HealthCare has chosen to embark on this joint venture with its partner Lancet Laboratories, one of Africa’s leading private pathology laboratories.

Lancet Laboratories is a long-standing partner of Cerba HealthCare. We have been working together to run clinical trials in Africa for over 20 years. This work is accomplished through BARC RSA, a Johannesburg-based company.

Together, we will work to develop a network of routine laboratories, through which we can share our unique expertise and diversify our activities. The complementarity of our respective medical expertise, coupled with a sound knowledge of the medical communities in each country and the deployment of significant industrial means, will enable us to meet the challenges of the African continent in terms of quality, efficiency and access to healthcare, as well as territorial coverage, all essential tools for the effective delivery of patient care.

Cerba Lancet Africa* is already a leading local clinical pathology group on the African continent, thanks to a network of more than 100 ISO-accredited laboratories, more than 1,400 employees (serving more than 1.3 million patients annually), and turnover of over €40 million in 2018. This laboratory network enjoys strong legitimacy thanks to the solid support of the medical communities in numerous countries. Our goal is to become the leading Pan-African player in clinical pathology.
